Innovative Storytelling Programs

The science is clear . . .

Story and storytelling support healing, ignite hope and transformation, strengthen connection to self and others,
and motivate lasting change.

Teachers. Trainers. Coordinators. Clergy. Clinicians.

Are you seeking meaningful ways to build connection, resilience, and emotional well-being with your students, clients, congregants, or community?

Or are you personally looking for a creative, restorative experience—one that supports reflection, renewal, and inner resilience?

Story Wizdom Circles offer a welcoming, story-based space for healing, growth, and lasting connection.

What are Story Wizdom Circles?

Story Wizdom Circles offer participants a unique, immersive experience that supports self-reflection, creative expression, and personal discovery. Master StoryWeaver, Phoenix Rising Kawamoto, shares a thoughtfully selected story and skillfully guides the group through an enriching journey that weaves together color, imagery, music, and other evocative elements.

As Your Facilitator

Phoenix has dedicated decades of his life serving as Storyteller and StoryTeacher, sharing the transformative power of story with thousands of youths and adults. He is known for his captivating presence and his ability to transport audiences of all ages into the metaphoric landscapes held within both the story and the listener.

An Abundance of Story Selections

Phoenix draws from a wide range of sources—including folktales, legends, myths, original pieces, and other published works—carefully choosing stories whose thematic depth invites exploration while fostering awareness, insight, and growth. He works with organizations to craft programming that best suits their needs and supports their goals.

Weaving the Way Forward: Story, Grief, and Resilience

We are living in extraordinary times, shaped by layered personal and collective challenges and opportunities. Individually and together, many of us are navigating deep emotions that can leave us depleted—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Phoenix invites you to gather in story and reflection through one of his most beloved tales of transformation and healing.

Rich with symbol and metaphor, this story honors the weight and impact of grief while illustrating the arduous path of healing. It offers space for meaning-making, sparks inspiration, and gently nurtures hope—without rushing or bypassing what is real.

Through guided reflection and creative exploration, participants are invited to:

  • Identify current challenges alongside emerging opportunities for growth

  • Recognize inner assets and lived skills that support resilience, healing, and joy

  • Explore practical actions to strengthen self-care and cultivate moments of joy

Weaving the Way Forward integrates storytelling, powerful imagery, personal reflection, and creative practices, alongside accessible tools drawn from lived experience. Together, these elements create a supportive container for meeting grief with compassion, reclaiming resilience, and discovering what carries us forward when the world feels heavy.

The Mythic Path of Resilience

When life takes an unexpected turn, we are thrust into unfamiliar landscapes and circumstances. In these moments, the only way out is through.

The Mythic Path of Resilience explores how the Hero’s Journey Framework offers practical tools for cultivating strength, meaning, and resilience as we navigate change—and are forever shaped by it. Along the way, we gather insight and wisdom not only for ourselves, but for the communities we serve.

Join Phoenix on a guided journey along the mythic path of resilience and transformation. This reflective, experiential program invites participants to reframe and re-member their lived experiences through the lens of American mythologist Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey.

Together, participants will:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of the key elements of the Hero’s Journey Framework

  • Reflect on and apply the framework to meaningful life experiences, challenges, and inner resources

  • Explore and identify themes and milestones along their own personal mythic path

  • Engage with color, imagery, sound, and music to honor their inner heroine or hero and celebrate their journey of resilience and transformation

The Mythic Path of Resilience offers participants a new lens for making meaning of their experiences—and an invitation to consciously shape a story that carries them forward on their continuing journey.

Approximate time required: A full-day workshop or can be split into two half-day sessions with groups ranging from 8-20 individuals.
