“Sheila the Brave” was originally self-published and illustrated by a team of 5th and 6th grade students from my former elementary school in 1998.

I am extremely grateful to have met Chris Cooley of Cooley Comics at the third-annual Join the Journey conference in Saratoga Springs, New York, in October of 2025. Through him and the help of his talented team, I am bringing Sheila the Brave—and her journey to the Land of Abundance—back to the world. These stories, and the life experiences they mirrored, served thousands of students I worked with as their StoryTeller and StoryTeacher, offering social-emotional learning, grief support, and resiliency skills.
